Federal Candidates


Martha CoakleyAttorney General Martha Coakley is running for the U.S. Senate in a special election to fill the seat of the late Ted Kennedy.  Martha has served Massachusetts as the Attorney General since 2007, and prior to that she was District Attorney of Middlesex County, Massachusetts for eight years. During her three decades practicing law, Attorney General Coakley established herself as a passionate advocate for public safety, and she specialized in prosecuting child abuse and sexual assault cases. Martha has been honored by the Victims Rights Center, the Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Democratic Party, and many others for her leadership abilities and contributions the field of law. Martha resides in Medford, Massachusetts with her husband Thomas F. O’Connor Jr. and their two Labrador retrievers. Learn more by visiting Martha’s website.

Runoff Elections


Annise ParkerCity Controller Annise Parker is running for Mayor of Houston, Texas. Annise won 31% of the vote in the election on November 3, 2009, and will now face former City Attorney Gene Locke in a runoff election on December 12, 2009.

After six years as Controller and six years as an at-large City Councilwoman, Annise will bring sound economic policy and leadership to the office of Mayor. She was born and raised in Houston, and she is committed to improving quality of life for her fellow Houstonians. In addition to her responsibilities in elected office, Annise serves on the Board of Directors of the Holocaust Museum Houston, Girls Inc., and numerous other charitable advisory boards. Annise promises to create jobs, keep the city safe by strengthening police and firefighters, and improve invaluable services such as after-school programs and senior centers.
